Some of the award winning Peace Posters on display in Carrick-on-Suir Library
An artistic Gaelscoil Charraig na Siuire pupil has been announced as the overall winner of Carrick-on-Suir Lions Club's annual Peace Poster Contest.
Gaelscoil student Jack Shannon will be presented with first prize at a ceremony hosted by the Lions Club in December. A date and venue have yet to be fixed for the awards.
In the meantime, Jack's winning poster and the posters of all the runner up award winners are on display in Carrick-on-Suir Library.
Students from 11 other schools in Carrick-on-Suir and its surrounding rural communities entered the art contest, the them of which was "The Future of Peace".
Carrick Lions Club said the standard of entries was very high again this year and judges found it difficult to choose winners.
Runners-up award winners are: Caithlin Dalton, Owning NS; Camille Walsh, Crehana NS; Aoife O’Shea, Piltown NS; Kayleigh McGrath-Quilty, Portlaw NS; Marie Culleton, Templeorum NS; Ella Cotter, Clonea Power NS; Ryan Price, Rathgormack NS; JJ Byrne, Newtown Upper NS; Genevieve Marshall, Ballyneale NS and Raminta Poznanskyte, Presentation NS.
