Councillor appeals for repair of pedestrian footpath railings in Carrick-on-Suir

The Pill Road Rail Bridge in Carrick-on-Suir

A Carrick-on-Suir councillor has appealed for pedestrian footpath railings underneath the Pill Road Railway Bridge to be repaired as they pose a public health and safety risk.

Cllr David Dunne expressed concern at Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District's last monthly meeting that the poor state of the railings meant a pedestrian was in danger of falling out on passing traffic.

He called on the Council to give a commitment that they will be repaired or replaced as part of the upcoming Pill Road traffic calming project.

District Engineer Willie Corby said he was aware of the problem with the railings and he had put pressure on Transport Infrastructure Ireland(TII)  to deal with it.

He promised to keep putting pressure on the TII to carry out this work.
