STORM ÉOWYN: Huge trees uprooted in Tipperary blocking busy roads

Status Red warnings remain in place until 11am

A number of trees have been uprooted throughout Tipperary this morning, the area around Ballingarry in particular has been heavily effected with large trees blocking several busy roads.

Outside of Ballingarry, anyone travelling on the Ardmayle road this morning is advised to please be careful as wires are hanging down across the road on the straight stretch after Breens heading for Ardmayle. Numerous trees have also been knocked down at Shelly's Bend, Mairead's Cross and Grant's Hill.

Several other nearby roads have been effected including: The road leading to PAWS Animal Rescue in Mullinahone, the Drangan to Cloneen road, Springhill in Killenaule, the Cashel to Fethard road, Mocklershill Fethard and Ballylusky Drangan.

In Clonmel, Gardaí are warning of a tree down on the bypass between the Moangariff and Cashel Road roundabouts

There are a number of trees down in Thurles, the N62 near the golf club and the road between Thurles and Horse and Jockey are both effected and caution is advised.

Tipperary Town gardaí are reporting a number of trees on the Dundrum to Tipp Town Road and around Dundrum House Hotel.

The Fethard to Cashel road is also impassable due to a fallen tree.

All non-urgent health services are cancelled on Friday, January 24 due to Storm Éowyn. This includes outpatient appointments in hospitals, clinics in primary care centres and day care services for older people. Services which involve staff travelling to client homes including home help, therapies, public health nursing are also cancelled.

Emergency services will continue to operate for serious emergencies. Patients will be contacted directly if their appointment is going ahead.
