Clonmel Business Network Chairman William Burke hopes Uisce Éireann reconsider their plans to resolve the water supply issues in Clonmel
Outraged Clonmel business owners have slated Uisce Éireann over the water supply crisis in the town.
Members of the Clonmel Business Network vented their anger towards representatives of Uisce Éireann who attended a public meeting in Clonmel on Monday night.
For two hours the representatives were pummeled by furious business owners about the regular water outages and Boil Water Notices afflicting the town.
“The only commitment given was that they (Uisce Éireann) will try and establish better communication about outages. They talked about five-year and ten-year plans but the demand from the floor of the meeting was that more immediate action be taken,” said Mayor of Clonmel Cllr Richie Molloy.
William Burke, Chairman of the Clonmel Business Network, said members would meet again to decide what their next step would be in the campaign to improve the water service in the town.
The manager of the Talbot Hotel said they were pleased representatives of Uisce Éireann came to the meeting but he expressed the hope that they would reconsider the plans they were putting in place to resolve the issue.
