Welcoming the news the Mayor of Clonmel, Pat English, said this would be another step in the redevelopment of the entire area.

Also at the meeting, District Administrator Carol Creighton said that a request had been sent to the ETB (Education and Training Board) and TUS (Technological University of the Shannon) for an update on the overall redevelopment, and the relocation of both bodies to the Kickham Barracks site.

She said that confirmation was awaited in relation to whether student accommodation would be included on site.

Cllr Siobhán Ambrose had requested a provisional timeframe for the relocation of the ETB and TUS to the area, as well as its overall redevelopment, and the possibility of providing student accommodation on site.

She said people wanted to know when it would be redeveloped.
