Three-day youth festival is now underway in Tipperary's largest town

There is a fun and crafty day at the TUS Clonmel campus today, Thursday

Building on the success of a one-day youth festival last year, the Tír na nÓg Youth Festival in Clonmel has expanded into a three-day event from this Thursday until Saturday, September 27.

The festival’s aim is to provide free craft activities for young people to unleash their creativity and feed positive wellbeing. It is run by youth for youth and is for young people of all ages but especially those aged 14 to 24 years of age.

Here are some of the highlights to watch out for: Thursday, September 25, 11am until 4pm, will be a fun and crafty day at the TUS Clonmel campus (E91 D896).

As this is the second year of running the festival, you can expect the return of some of the favourite activities from last year including the petting farm and a nerf war. Try something new - whether it is lino printing, sticker making or badge making.
Join in the street games or take time to breathe in the mindfulness session. Come check out the animation film screening, which is on all day.

Free candy floss and popcorn will be available. And while you are at the campus, feel free to stop by and see the progress of the new outdoor mural developed under the supervision of accomplished visual artist Maurice Caplice.

A brand new initiative this year is the Storyslam event from 2pm until 4pm, where young people in recovery will perform a four to seven-minute story to share their experience - written straight from their heart to yours.

Friday September 26 at 1pm marks the launch of the visual art and mixed media exhibition in the Main Guard Clonmel. Entitled Scrying: Water as the wellspring of creativity, this work is the result of an international project between Durham College in Canada and the Technological University of the Shannon, Clonmel Campus. The art is inspired by Oshawa Creek and St Patrick’s Well in Clonmel. The exhibition will run from Wednesday until Saturday.

Saturday is a day of free creativity and crafts at Kickham Plaza Clonmel.

TUS students are working with and supporting the brilliant work of Clonmel Applefest by hosting a variety of activities including drawing skills, badge-making, collage, bracelet-making and more.

These events would not be possible without the support of the Slaintecare Healthy Communities programme via Tipperary County Council. The festival is also delighted to be partnering with Clonmel Applefest and supporting the Harvest Fair festivities at the Plaza on this Saturday.
The Tir Na Nog festival coordinator Agata Obolevica, hopes the festival will “provide the community with a space to explore their creativity to have time to relax and engage with one another. Whether you're an experienced artist or someone who's never drawn before, we hope that you have a great time at the festival and try out a variety of different activities!"
