Multiple cars we given fixed charged fines in Tipperary at the weekend for parking on the footpath, ignoring orange bollards and parking on double yellow lines.
In a post on Facebook, Tipperary Gardaí said: "Multiple cars illegally parked yesterday in Ballina, Tipperary. Numerous drivers parked their vehicles on footpaths, ignoring the orange bollards & the double yellow lines. Multiple fixed charge fines were issued. Drivers are asked to park legally and with respect to other road users."
People were quick to comment under the post expressing their frustration over the lack of respect for footpath users from the motorists.
Wheelchair users and parents with buggies would of had to use the road if the footpath was impassable due to the illegally parked car.
One comment said: "No consideration for disabled people in wheelchairs mobility scooters and people suffering from blindness, disgraceful", along with another, "It's a disgrace the way people are parking I saw people parking on the footpath on the way to Aldi and people with prams and wheelchair had to get on the road this is happening out there all the time."
Another comment was reminding drivers of the implications to insurance when parking on the footpath:
"A car is not insured when parked on a footpath. And you will only find out when someone damages your car and when you go to claim you will get a right land when you are told you were parked illegally so no insurance cover."
