Theft offences were most commonly reported in Tipperary
Theft and related offences made up the largest share of crimes reported in the Tipperary Garda Division in quarter four of last year, new figures show.
The figures, released by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), show that there were 349 recorded incidents of theft and related offences in the last quarter of 2024.
This was followed by public order and other social code offences, with 234 recorded incidents, followed by 206 recorded incidents of damage to property and the environment and 203 incidents of disorderly conduct.
There were 192 incidents of criminal damage, not including arson, 164 incidents of other theft and handing stolen property, and 143 recorded incidents of thefts from shops.
141 incidents of attempts or threats to murder, assaults, harassments and related offences were recorded in the quarter, with 113 recorded incidents of controlled drug offences.
There were 90 incidents of other assaults recorded, 82 for possession of drugs for personal use, and 81 each for non-aggrivated burglary and burglary and related offences.
There were 76 recorded incidents of dangerous or negligent acts, 62 for offences against government, justice procedures and organisation of crime and 60 offences while in custody or breach of court orders.
The figures also show that there were 44 offences of driving or being in charge of a vehicle while over legal alcohol limit, 39 for theft or taking of vehicle and related offences, 30 sexual offences, 29 for assault causing harm or poisoning, 25 recorded incidents of rape or sexual assault and 25 for endangering traffic offences.
There were also 25 recorded incidents of possession of drugs for sale or supply, 21 for weapons and explosives offences, and 21 for trespass offences.

There were 11 recorded incidents of threats to kill or cause serious harm, 11 for harassment and related offences, and 11 for offensive weapons offences (not elsewhere classified).
There were nine recorded incidents of robbery, extortion and hijacking offences, eight incidents of fireworks offences, six social code offences (not elsewhere classified), six for blackmail or extortion, five for other drug offences, four liquor licensing offences, four for endangerment with potential for serious harm or death, three for theft from a person, three for robbery from the person, and three for driving or being in charge of a vehicle under the influence of drugs.
There was one recorded incidence of kidnapping and related offences, one for false imprisonment, one for cultivation or manufacture of drugs, one for explosives or chemical weapons offences, one for possession of a firearm, one for litter offences, one for offences against government and its agents, and one for perverting the course of justice.
There were no reported offences of homicide, murder, manslaughter, infanticide or dangerous driving leading to death in the Tipperary Garda Division during quarter four of 2024.
