An adjustment to the first count votes in the Carrick-on-Suir Local Electoral Area was announced before the commencement of the second count at the Tipperary County Centre in Thurles this morning (Sunday, June 9).

Sinn Féin Cllr David Dunne's first preference vote was reduced by 100 votes from 1,759 to 1,659. He was the second candidate elected in Carrick LEA on the first count last night but this adjustment doesn't change the outcome as his first preference vote is still 151 votes over the quota.

The first preference vote of Fine Gael candidate Mark Fitzgerald, meanwhile, was increased by 100 votes from 1,239 to 1,339.

The revised first count result in the Carrick-on-Suir LEA election is as follows:

Total Electorate: 16,763

Invalid Ballot Papers: 57

Valid Poll: 9,047

Quota: 1,508

Number of Seats:  5

Bourke Kieran (FF)  1,334

Brennan Michael 'Chicken'  1,486

Dunne David (SF)  1,659  (elected)

Murphy Martin (IFP)   299

O'Meara Kevin (Ind) 1,032

Total: 9,047

The second count, which is the distribution of Cllr Imelda Goldsboro's surplus, is now underway.
