A Fethard resident is urging members of Tipperary County Council to fill potholes which put children cycling and running at risk

Concerns raised over potholes endangering children at play in Tipperary town

Concerns are being raised that the potholes are becoming 'dangerous' for children at play around St Patrick's Place, Fethard, Co. Tipperary.

In a post on social media Fethard resident Liz Sheehan McCormack posted a photo of one of the potholes followed by a caption in which she said: "Just one of the many potholes around St Patrick's place Fethard.

"Becoming dangerous as children are out on bikes and scooters and running about these potholes have the potential to cause serious damage please be aware there all over the place."

Liz tagged local councillors Imelda Goldsboro, Michael Brennan and Mark Fitzgerald in the post and members of the public left comments under her post with one person saying: "We need to meet with the local council Engineer to show him that filling the potholes will not suffice this time and that the whole estate need resurfacing.

"I have been told for 20 years now that there is no money or “ it’s a private estate”. Well its a public road that has now got busier than every especially with FTP and all the Buses passing through. So it needs to be done. We can’t stop getting on to them now until it’s done."
