Newport claimed the honours tonight

The FBD Insurance county Tipperary hurling league division 3 final took place in pleasant conditions at Holycross this evening.

A close honest encounter was played out before a good crowd and the match went right down to the wire as both sides gave everything to claim the Dr. Fogarty Cup.

The teams were evenly matched in the first half with the south side going in one up at the break on a scoreline of Ballingarry 2-7(13) Newport 1-9(12).

From there it was score for score before Newport edged ahead with twelve minutes to play and they didn't relinquish the lead from there, running out narrow winners on a scoreline of Newport 1-21(24) Ballingarry 2-14(20).
