Tipperary Town students examine their career pathway opportunities

St Anne’s Secondary School in Tipperary Town celebrated College Awareness Week by holding several events aimed at promoting post-secondary education for all students.

The junior pupils completed a career pathway survey and discussed possible career paths. Past pupils visited both senior and junior classes and spoke about their chosen college courses. 
 

A College Hall of Fame was on display for all to see, for both the Leaving Cert Class of 2022 and one for the staff of St Anne’s. TY students displayed their career Investigations – welldone to Eva Donovan and Kayla Mannix for winning first prize for their TY project.  

All students got to take part in “What Staff Member Bingo”. Taylor McCarthy was the winner of this event.
Meabh O’Brien and Aine O’Brien were runners up. Thanks to UCC for sponsoring first prize, and TUS Limerick for sponsoring runner up prizes. 

A Careers Fair was held in the assembly hall and many colleges sent representatives to speak to students.
Students got a lot of information about apprenticeships, plc courses and college courses. Thank you to NUIG for staying in school to do subject choice talks with Third and Sixth Years. A CAO and alternative route information evening was held for parents on December 1.

Keira O’Mahony, school guidance counsellor, said: “We are delighted to be part of a nationwide campaign to promote the importance of post-secondary education. There are lots of options out there and College Awareness Week encourages people of all ages to consider further education as part of their future.”  CAW aims to inspire and inform all students in Ireland about the importance of having a post-secondary education plan. It advocates for students to have the choice to pursue the course best suited to their interests, abilities, and dreams, whether that is a PLC qualification, an apprenticeship, or a university Degree.
