Planting and cleaning of viaduct will a huge job but Cahir Tidy Towns are up for the challenge

The planting and cleaning of the viaduct will be a huge undertaking, but it needs to be opened to make the towers more visible and safer for those exploring and walking that end of the town.

The Cahir Tidy Towns Group have been clearing up after the Christmas and lights are being removed from our planters. Some pruning was carried out on trees along the Viaduct walk and this area has been opened up to more walkers and has been a haven of activity with canoeing and kayaking during the summer months.

This week we received news that the drinks can collection has reached 2.85 tonne for 2022 and that amounts to €1,525. Thanks to ABP Cahir for their assistance on this Cans for Trees project. ABP have rounded that amount up to €2,000 so the future generations will enjoy the beauty of native Irish trees for years ahead.

A target of 4 tonne of drinks cans for 2023 has been set as our relationship with ABP for the coming year to promote that every can counts can get us over the line. We need the continued support of all the community on this and the first Saturday of every month will be eagerly awaited to see if we can hit the target.

We are still working on our LEADER project and will have exciting developments by March. We will be holding a course in prop design in the next few weeks as we prepare for St Patrick’s Day and finish off our biodiversity course in the next two weeks so we are still very active during the off season.
