Festival based event planned for Tipperary to mark Monster Meeting on Slievenamon

MONSTER MEETING OF 1848


A well attended meeting was held on Thursday last in Kilcash Hall to arrange for the reenactment of the Monster Meeting of 1848 held on Slievenamon, it will be Festival based event in Kilcash which coincidentally at that period marked the 50th anniversary of the 1798 Rebellion.


Representatives from Ahenny, Ballyneale, Ballypatrick, Kilcash, Kilmacow, Kilsheelan, Skough, Owning, Tullahought and Windgap were present for the original event in 1848.

Further planning is in place to finalise plans with the events planned for July of this current year.
Anyone with information, memorabilia or knowledge surrounding those events would be most welcome to participate.
