Tipperary defibrillator group launches appeal for new volunteers for vital service File photo
A defibrillator group has issued an appeal for new volunteers after the original committee has had to be disbanded.
The group covering Gortnahoe/Glengoole, Grange, Ballysloe and Mary Willies has decided to reboot the community involvement and instead of one committee looking after the defibrillator, they are seeking volunteers from each area.
“It was too much for one group,” said Richard Dunne, secretary of Gortnahoe/ Glengoole Community Hall where the local defibrillator is located. “We are hoping local groups will be able to look after their own defib.”
Mr Dunne said the original group had decided to disband because it was finding it hard to get volunteers to cover a wide area. He outlined the importance of having a defib locally and the need to maintain the service.
“The committee did their duty down the years and are just asking local people to get involved,” he said.
