Tipperary minor Ladies Footballers secured a vital win in their Munster campaign at Fethard Town Park against Limerick last night. Sharp and alert from the off against an organised Limerick side, the home side produced a fantastic display of entertaining football to meet the challenge and secure the all important victory.
Tipp manager Derry Peters had his team primed for this vital fourth round game and straight away his side got going with early points from Arravale Rovers star Ciara O'Hora and a sweet strike from Boherlahan Dualla forward Emer Dwan.
Sarah Ryan, who led the attack at centre forward, was to the fore in the early stages and Tipp took full control when lively full forward Ciara O'Hora shook the net on 20 minutes to leave it 1-3 to 0-2 in favour of the home team.
Limerick responded well though and fired in two goals before half time to leave it 1-5 to 2-3 at the recess. On the restart a fired up Tipp buried another goal, this time from Sliabh na mBan midfielder Nora Martin, and gradually wore down the Treaty defence as the clock wore on.
The teams were level at 2-8 a piece with ten to go, but Tipperary finished strongly and buoyed up by vocal home support ran out 2-12 to 2-8 winners.
