Deputy Cahill with Minister Niall Collins during a visit to Tipperary to discuss the collaboration between Tipperary ETB and Mary Immaculate College on the Home Economics teacher training course
The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Simon Harris, and the Minister of State for Skills and Further Education, Niall Collins, have announced that Tipperary ETB is to receive €435,000 from the Department of Further and Higher Education.
The news has ben welcomed by Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill.
The devolved capital grant will give Tipperary ETB the discretion to make decisions around small-scale FET investment priorities at a local level.
The funding can be used for small scale works including necessary infrastructure and improvement works, and for the purchase of equipment.
Funding is provided under Project 2040 and forms part of the ongoing investment in the further education and training (FET) sector.
Using this grant, ETBs will be able to carry out work such as upgrades to computer labs and science labs, replacement of apprenticeship equipment, roof works and planned improvement works of FET buildings.
“I am delighted to welcome further investment by this Government in education in Tipperary. Fianna Fáil has a proud tradition of investing in education and I am pleased to see this continue today with further funding being allocated to the county by my colleagues in Government," said Deputy Cahill.
