WEEKEND HURLING RESULTS: 'Church beat Borris in the county hurling league

The big game in the county hurling league drew the crowds to Drombane this afternoon as Upperchurch defeated Borris Ileigh by three points in an evenly matched encounter between the neighbouring parishes. Early Borris Ileigh points by Conor Kenny and Brendan Maher set the tone for Borris while Arron Ryan and Paudie Greene scores kept the Church well in it. 

A James Devaney goal for Borris Ileigh approaching half time left the north side three up at the break with a scoreline of Borris 2-5 Church 0-8. 

Then Paudie Greene hit 2-2 at the start of the second half and that was the difference between the teams. James Devaney and Shane McCormack points brought Borris back into it but Paudie Greene once more kept the scoreboard ticking and hit a late point on for the Church to stretch their lead. Despite two Conor Kenny points there was no time left for a Borris revival. 

In the other big games in Division 1 Clonoulty beat Mullinahone by five points while Toomevara accounted for the county champions Kilruane MacDonaghs winning by three goals.
