A benefit night in Carrick-on-Suir’s Old Mill Pub on Saturday, April 1 raised an impressive €2,530 for the town’s Réalta Sports Club for Children with Special Needs.
Local DJ Dermot Mansfield provided the entertainment with a 70s/80s music disco. The other highlight of the fundraiser was the auction of a Tipperary jersey signed by the county’s hurling stars, which was sold for a whopping €500.
Tipperary Captain Noel McGrath presented the jersey to Danny and Ben Rockett, sons of its generous purchaser Becky Waters, after the Tipperary versus Wexford challenge match at the Swan GAA Club’s Páirc na nEalaí last Saturday.
The match was in aid of another very worthy local cause, the Ryan O’Dwyer Road to Recovery GoFundMe campaign.
The funds raised for Réalta Sports Club will help pay for sports equipment and outings for its members, aged between 4 and 12. The club is based at Carrick Davins GAA Club’s grounds.
