A Tipperary man has sent a letter of apology to Lee Chin after the Wexford star was racially abused during a challenge match between Wexford and Tipp last Saturday week, according to the Sunday World.
Video footage of a supporter aiming abuse at the Wexford captain during the closing stages of the game in Carrick-on-Suir has been widely condemned. The referee subsequently abandoned the game as Wexford players angrily confronted the spectator in question.
But the Sunday World is now reporting that Chin has received an apology over the incident, with the man involved, although not directly associated with Tipperary GAA, is a GAA enthusiast who previously sponsored jerseys ahead of an underage event.
While both Tipperary and Wexford GAA have launched separate investigations, a Garda investigation isn't likely to take place until after Chin and Wexford's involvement in the championship is over.
The Slaneysiders open their Leinster SHC campaign with a trip to Salthill to face Galway on Saturday.
