The new Regional Sports Hub in Clonmel
The skateboard park at the new Regional Sports Hub in Clonmel will be open within the next few weeks, it was announced at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.
District Administrator Carol Creighton told a meeting of the Borough District that the official launch of the sports hub would take place towards the end of June. There would be “a soft launch” of the new facility before then.
She said that a manager has yet to be appointed but it would be handy to have somebody on the site to answer questions and direct people, and a working group would also be in place.
Ms Creighton said that TUS (Technological University of the Shannon) had their own plans for security and fencing around the site, and they would be responsible for that.
Cllr Siobhán Ambrose said that children were asking their parents, when they drove past that area, when the sports hub would open.
She said there was an impression that palisade fencing had been provided at some areas around the boundary wall, but in other areas there was none.
District Mayor Pat English said that residents of nearby estates including Northfields, Fairfields and Boherduff had also expressed concern about security.
