Request for measures to ease traffic flow on very busy Tipperary road

Clonmel junction will be examined by council

Request for measures to ease traffic flow on very busy Tipperary road

Cllr Siobhán Ambrose says the road markings should be upgraded as an interim measure to help ease congestion at the busy junction

The District Engineer Roger Noonan will sanction the upgrading of the line markings on the road at the junction of the Western Road and Glenconnor Road in Clonmel if it’s deemed necessary.

That was the news relayed to a meeting of Clonmel Borough District by District Administrator Carol Creighton.

She said that in the medium term, the Roads Capital section of Tipperary County Council will be asked to examine the junction with regard to any potential design improvements that could be implemented, such as a roundabout or traffic lights.

The District Administrator was responding to a request by Cllr Siobhán Ambrose, who asked that the council’s roads section would again examine this junction with a view to identifying suitable measures that could be implemented at this location to make the traffic flow easier, especially at peak times for traffic coming from the Glenconnor Road onto the Western Road.

Cllr Ambrose said the road markings should be upgraded as an interim measure.
