Clonmel Tidy Towns has received funding from Boston Scientific for a project in the Old Bridge area.
Clonmel Tidy Towns are in the second year of a three year project developing an orchard in
McDonagh Crescent. Next year in year three, part of the plan was to install a footpath to make
the orchard accessible for all. Thanks to Boston Scientific Clonmel the plans have been fast
tracked.
One of Clonmel Tidy Towns members, Marleen Zimmerman, put the project forward through the
Boston Scientific workplace Green Team for funding.
The “employee-led Green Teams present
new ideas and implement projects that reduce the company's environmental footprint globally
and improve the communities in which they do business”.
The application was successful in no small part to Marleen and Clare. Clonmel Tidy Towns also
received funding to help support the vegetable garden on the grounds of Old St. Mary's. The
produce from the garden is sent to the Soup Kitchen at the Railway Station.
Recently members of Clonmel Tidy Towns went up to the Boston Scientific Clonmel site to visit
and collect the cheque. Thanks to Clare, Tony and Marli for welcoming Clonmel Tidy Towns
members and to Conor Russell, VP of Operations (missing from the photo). To the Green Team
for nominating the project and to Boston Scientific Clonmel for the funding. All much
appreciated.
