Tipperary TD says Irish Water's treatment of county's householders is 'unacceptable'

Tipperary Sinn Féin TD Martin Browne has accused Irish Water of shirking all responsibility they have towards the Tipperary public.

He voiced his criticism of Uisce Eireann as households who are subject to boil water notices and service interruptions struggle to get answers about the cause of the disruption, and how long it is estimated to last.

“The manner in which the people of Tipperary have been treated by Irish Water is unacceptable.

“I have been inundated with calls about supply issues across the county, with people complaining about a lack of communication from the utility company.

“I have experienced that lack of communication myself when enquiring about the many issues of concern that are widespread in Tipperary.

“Whether it has to do with service interruptions or boil water notices, Uisce Eireann is, in large part, failing in their communication with the public and with public representatives such as myself who are hugely frustrated with the lack of response and detail.

“But their shortcomings in communications are only matched by their inability to respond in a timely matter to issues on the ground. People are left waiting for days and weeks for Uisce Eireann to respond to reports that the public, and indeed public representatives log with them.

“Local authorities were always the ones best suited to providing for the needs of the public when it comes to water infrastructure," he said.
