Tipperary TD calls for county to be in defective blocks scheme following pyrite complaints
Tipperary TD Jackie Cahill has called for the county to be included in the Enhanced Defective Concrete Block Scheme.
Deputy Cahill has met with a number of property owners in Tipperary who have proof that their properties are affected by pyrite.
“I have met with a number of constituents whose properties are crumbling with pyrite in the north of the county. I have seen this first hand when visiting homes and the cracks that appear are relentless, no matter how much work is done to try and repair them.
“There are a number of families affected by this who have already come forward, who have worked over many years to build a home of their own and pay off their mortgage. They are now left wondering how they are going to deal with this enormous cost and challenge to them.
“I have contacted the Department of Housing and Tipperary County Council and requested that Tipperary be included in this scheme, which currently only covers Donegal, Mayo, Clare and Limerick," he said.
