Sightsaver Bus proves to be a great service for the people of Tipperary

A new service for the people of Tipperary and surrounding areas, which is proving very popular since its inception in recent months is The Sightsaver Bus.

Recognising a need for a service in the area of county Tipperary which would bring patients to the North of Ireland to avail of medical treatment, John O’Heney developed this new service for the area over several months.

Unfortunately, waiting lists in the Republic of Ireland are quite long for many medical procedures, and this was proving very troublesome for lots of people in County Tipperary who needed to get medical attention urgently.

Working with Kingsbridge Hospital in Belfast to develop the service for Tipperary, John spent a long Winter meeting and developing the service with their Business Development Manager, Ms. Niamh Moloney.

John established clinics that were held in February this year in Tipperary Town and Cashel initially and have since expanded over the border into Pallasgreen.

The maiden voyage of the Sightsaver Bus took place on the 28th of April this year and just this weekend gone by on the 16th of July, another bus made its way to the North and returned successfully with many happy patients on board.

So far, the new service has helped many patients from Tipperary, Limerick, and Cork to get the treatment they need quickly and efficiently. A huge range of procedures are available, with Cataract operations proving very popular so far.

John is delighted to continue this service into the future and new clinics will be held every few months in Tipperary Town, Cashel, and in Pallasgreen with other locations being looked at in due course.

This is a fully comprehensive service from door to door. John himself is the voluntary Bus Chaperone and you are provided with a comfortable bus, an outstanding hotel and a taxi service to and from The Hotel to the Hospital for your appointments each day. From the time you leave you are looked after for everything you need, until you return.

It is hoped that several more buses will leave Tipperary before the year is out to avail of this new service. If you ever wish to hear more about the service and the procedures that are available you can contact John via email: johnpoheneypc@gmail.com or message him on his social media account.
