CONGRATS: Popular Tipperary priest elevated to diocesan Chancellor and Secretary roles

Fr Vincent Stapleton: New diocesan Chancellor and Secretary

The following transfers and appointments have been announced by the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly, Kieran O’Reilly:

Fr James Walton, PP, Ballybricken and Bohermore, to be PP Gortnahoe and Glengoole, Fr Vincent Stapleton, CC, Thurles and Bothar na Naomh, to be Diocesan Secretary and Chancellor. He will continue to reside in Bothar na Naomh.

The appointments take effect from Saturday, August 26, 2023.

The Archdiocese welcomes two priests from the Diocese of Mutare in Zimbabwe.

Fr Francis Mudungwe and Fr John Makoni have been assigned to the Archdiocese of Cashel and Emly by the Bishop of Mutare, Bishop Paul Horan, OCarm, a native of the diocese.

“I am delighted that we have entered into an agreement between the two dioceses that will be of benefit to both dioceses,” said Archbishop O’Reilly. “I extend a warm welcome to Fr Francis and Fr John and wish them both well in their ministry among us.”

Fr Mudungwe, is CC Templemore, Clonmore and Killea; FR Makoni is CC Cashel and Rosegreen
