The new chalice which was blessed and used for the first time at Ardfinnan Church last Saturday evening.
Last Saturday in the Holy Family Church in Ardfinnan during the Saturday Vigil Mass, a chalice which was especially commissioned in loving memory of the former parish clerk, Paddy Noonan, who died in July, was blessed and used for the first time.
Paddy’s death has left a void across the whole village, as he was such a humble and dedicated person who helped so many groups and individuals in so many ways.
So many tributes were paid and spoken as Paddy was such a central character to the GAA, to the Parish which he served, to calling in to neighbours and friends every day, and indeed to the entire parish community.
So it was fitting that the entire parish acknowledged Paddy, on what would have been his 70th birthday last Saturday, with a number of parishioners, family, and close friends present. The chalice was commissioned in Saint Anthony's shrine in Padua in Italy where the parish pilgrimage recently took place it is inscribed:
“In loving memory of - Paddy Noonan parish Clerk Ardfinnan- 9th of July 2023 RIP."
It will be used for years to come as a reminder of the remarkable man he was, and his memory will live on for generations to come.
