The annual Long Way Round 15km night walk or run in aid of the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Association takes place on Saturday, November 25.

The walk departs from Gaelcholaiste Cheitinn at The Mall in Clonmel and the route takes in the surrounding countryside over minor roads, forest tracks and open mountain.

“We've had brilliant views near the finish for the last few years of the event from the Holy Year Cross above Clonmel,” said a SEMRA spokesperson.

“We'll finish up with a sociable chat and some refreshments back at the start point.

“This is our most important fundraising event of the year and is vital to providing a mountain rescue service for the South East.

The event is open to over 18s only and no pets are allowed. If you register before Tuesday, October 31 you can avail of the Early Bird entry rate of €35
