Pumpkin Festival Finale
What an incredible spectacle took place in Burncourt Village on Saturday night - a showcase of our Samhain Lanterns parading through the village. All lanterns were made by children and adults of the community throughout October in a series of workshops facilitated by Beehouse Arts.
Though the rain dampened the surfaces, not the spirits as costumed pucas, goblins, wizards, zombies and of course princesses lit their lanterns and led by Grand Marshall Maureen Creed and Rhythm Riot Drummers beamed their way through the street. A first but not the last.
Burncourt’s Pumpkin Festival came to an end on Sunday evening with a Festival Family Afternoon in what is now locally being labelled “Pumpkin Park” Hillview providing a great space for family games and fun.
It was a great afternoon with Burncourt Community Council members pulling out all the stops to ensure it was a successful gathering.
