Plenty on the agenda as Tipperary GAA gets set to hold County Convention ahead of 2024

The annual convention of Tipperary GAA will take place this coming Saturday evening in The Dome, FBD Semple Stadium at 6.30 pm.

This year’s convention will be the final convention as chairman for Moyne Templetuohy man Joe Kennedy, who will step down following the completion of his three-year tenure.

Kennedy will now be succeeded by the current Vice Chairman and Nenagh Eire Óg clubman Jimmy Minogue who has been involved in the GAA for many years and we wish him well in his new position.

Saturday evening's convention will also see contests for two positions on the County Board, the most notable being County Vice Chairman's.

Both candidates for this position are from the North Division, which is something that rarely if ever has happened previously in the county.

Current County Planning and Training officer Mark McLoughlin of Roscrea and Michael Tierney Borris-Ileigh who is the outgoing North Board chairman, will both be hoping to secure the support of the majority of delegates on Saturday evening.

There are also four nominations for the position of Munster Council Delegate, Joe Kennedy Moyne Templetuohy (Outgoing), Sean Nugent Kilsheelan Kilcash (Outgoing), John Morrissey Galtee Rovers, and Michael McCarthy Cappawhite. Also on the night, there will be a total of 15 motions up for debate.

If you would like to keep up to date with this year’s convention, there will be regular updates on the Tipperary GAA website via the live blog.

Details of how to access the blog will be posted across all Tipperary GAA social media channels prior to the event.
