Local TD Jackie Cahill last Thursday confirmed that he has secured a further €1,226,618 from the Department of Housing for the renovation of vacant County Council houses in Tipperary to bring them back into active use.
Deputy Cahill, who has worked with Minister Darragh O’Brien and Tipperary County Council officials in relation to this additional funding, said: “I am delighted to confirm that we have secured an additional €1.2million from the Department of Housing today for housing voids in Tipperary.
“It is a priority for me, and indeed this Government that we get as many vacant properties as possible back into active use. There are a number of vacant Council houses around the county that need substantial work to be allocated to local people who are qualified for social housing support.
“This additional funding, which has been approved by the Fianna Fáil Housing Minister, Darragh O’Brien, will allow the County Council to continue their good work of getting some of the remaining vacant Council houses in the county back into circulation. I would like to thank Minister Darragh O’Brien and his staff for working with me.”
