Clonmel Friends of Palestine is presenting a concert on Sunday, January 28 at the Talbot Hotel Clonmel, to raise funds fir the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF)
Having met at various rallies in solidarity with Gaza under the Main Guard in Clonmel over recent weeks, the group including councillors, local event organisers and members of the Palestinian community set about planning a gig for Gaza in an effort to raise much needed funds for the ongoing medical and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The group approached the Talbot Hotel about hosting a concert and family event in the ballroom with a capacity of 500 people.
GENEROUS OFFER FROM HOTEL
The Talbot generously offered the ballroom at no cost, allowing maximum funds raised to go to the PCRF.
Clonmel Friends of Palestine will host the concert and fundraising event on Sunday, January 28 between 2pm and 7pm.
There will be a food sale organised by Lubna Shahzadi, a raffle, kids entertainment and a Palestinian dance group from 2pm.
Local Palestinian woman Ghada Hasan will present a video outlining where the money raised will go, and where it is very much needed.
From 3pm on the day, local artists and bands will take to the stage, including singer/ songwriters Eve Whelan, Cadhla, traditional Irish folk group The Tipperary Ramblers, electronic artist Vale, local favourites The Benedictine Quartet and The Wood of O and headlining rock group Crow Black Chicken.
There is music to suit every taste but the main thing is that people come out in their hundreds to donate and show support.
Tickets cost €10 or €25 for a family of two adults and 2-4 children. This will include access to the whole event from 2pm -7pm.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite or from the Talbot Hotel. Those looking to stay up to date on planning for the event should follow When Next We Meet Music Festival on Instagram or Facebook. There will be posters around the town as well as many volunteers selling tickets locally.
There is still a need for kids entertainers or children’s event suppliers to donate their time and services to the event for the family friendly section of the day from 2pm-5pm.
Any interested individuals or businesses willing to get involved can reach out to the organisers at hello@whennextwemeet.ie
