Hearth and Home: Who is doing the the lions share of the family care in Tipperary?

New results from Census 2022 show that almost 9,400 people in Tipperary work in their home.

The Profile seven - Employment, Occupations and Commuting set for Tipperary recorded a 18% drop in people who reported looking after the home and family.

The measure is called Looking After Home/Family.

The highest proportion of both men and women caring for the home and family was in Fethard.

Sixteen-point-five percent of women in Fethard reported caring for home/family as their occupation compared to 2.4% of men.

The lowest for county was in Ballina, with women reported as 9.1% and men just 1.1%

In the north of the county for men was Thurles at 2% and for women Roscrea at 13.7%.

Fethard was the highest for both men and women south of the county.

But the lowest home care figures were in Clonmel, with men accounting for 1.2% and women 10.9%.
