Cllr Andy Moloney: “With the steady increase in numbers visiting the town and more footfall, it is imperative that we improve this junction on the crossroads of Munster”.
At the recent Tipperary- Cahir - Cashel District Council meeting, Cahir’s Cllr Andy Moloney was informed that senior executive engineers have recently met with a representative of Vision Ireland and based on this meeting they are finalising drawings for Part 8 publication on the Super Valu junction in Cahir.
They intend to launch the Part 8 in Q1 2024, and just need to finalise their environmental and engineering reports and secure final approval from the NTA. A workshop will be arranged in the New Year to present the design to the council.
Cllr Moloney has been asking for improvements to this junction at Super Valu in Cahir in the interests of pedestrian safety and traffic flow and would ideally like this to form part of the public realm works to minimise disruption.
He said “With the steady increase in numbers visiting the town and more footfall, it is imperative that we improve this junction on the crossroads of Munster”.
While Cllr Moloney agrees that some large trucks don’t need to use the town, they still need to have a better traffic flow and a safer junction for all. He has welcomed the progress to date and although it is slow, he is hopeful that a design and funding will be forthcoming from the efforts of the council.
