A man has been charged in connection with the death of Maciej Nowak, who was found dead at a house in Kilross on Wednesday.
Tomasz Rozpeda, 27, of no fixed abode, appeared before Judge Elizabeth MacGrath at a special sitting of Nenagh District Court on Saturday evening and was charged with assault causing harm.
Detective Garda Kevin O’Keefe told the court that he arrested and charged Mr Rozpeda on Friday, December 29, 2023, at 11:48pm at Tipperary Town Garda Station.
The gardaí applied to have the defendant remanded in custody while awaiting DPP instructions and for him to appear before the court in Nenagh on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
The gardaí said they would object to any bail application made.
Solicitor Vincent McCormack, acting for the accused, said he would not be making a bail application on this occasion but may do so at a later date.
Mr Rozpeda was assisted in court by a Polish interpreter and was granted legal aid.
Maciej Nowak, 32, was found dead at a house in Ballycrana, Kilross, last Wednesday and is believed to have been assaulted in the early hours of December 27.
