South Tipperary’s first new borns of 2024 were two beautiful baby boys whose parents are from Mullinahone and Carrick-on-Suir

First to be born just over an hour into the new year was Sean Liam O’Halloran at Cork University Maternity Hospital. Baby Sean was born at 1.02am on Monday, January 1, weighing 4.24kg (9lbs 5oz).

His delighted parents are Catherine and Brian O’Halloran from Mullinahone.

Ronan Fleming was the first baby born at Tipperary University Hospital’s newly refurbished Maternity Unit at 5.15am on New Year’s Day.

His proud parents are Leah Cooke and Warren Fleming from Carrick-on-Suir. Little Ronan weighed 2.9kg (6lbs 6oz).

Ronan is the couple's second son and a new brother for two-year-old Cayson.

The staff and management of Tipperary University Hospital Maternity Unit said they were delighted to extend the warmest congratulations to the couple on the safe delivery of Ronan.

The Maternity Unit's recently appointed Director of Midwifery Maggie Dowling said they look forward to a busy 2024 serving the families in its locality and growing the Maternity Unit even more.  The Maternity Unit was very successfully relaunched in November following its refurbishment.
