BREAKING: Man charged in fatal assault in Tipperary further remanded in custody

The man charged in connection to the death of Maciej Nowak in Tipperary has been remanded in custody until later this month.

Tomasz Rozpeda, 27, of no fixed abode, appeared before Judge Philip O’Leary at a sitting of Tipperary Town District Court in Nenagh and was assisted by a Polish interpreter.

Sgt Cathal Godfrey of Tipperary Town Garda Station, told the court that the defendant is charged with assault causing harm, contrary to Section Three of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act and applied to court for the defendant to be further remanded in custody.

Solicitor for the accused, Vincent McCormack, told the court that Mr Rozpeda did not wish to make a bail application and asked for the matter to be put back for his client to appear in person.

Judge O’Leary remanded the case back to January 24.

Maciej Nowak, 32, was found dead at a house in Ballycrana, Kilross, on Wednesday, December 27, following what is believed to be an assault.
