Tipperary County Council will send representative to the Nottingham Irish Festival
Tipperary County Council will be represented by one of its senior elected members at the 25th annual Nottingham Irish Festival in England on St Patrick’s Day.
The Council’s elected members gave the go head at their January meeting in Clonmel last Friday for Cathaoirleach Cllr Ger Darcy of Fine Gael or his representative to represent the local authority at the festival.
Tipperary County Council Meetings Administrator Ger Walsh told councillors the Nottingham Irish Festival organisers select one of the 32 counties to be represented at the festival through a draw each year and this year is county Tipperary’s turn.
Second Invitation
Approval was also given by councillors at the meeting to accept a second invitation from Ireland's Ambassador in Britain Martin Fraser for the Council's Cathaoirleach or his representative to attend a reception at the Irish Embassy in London on February 16 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Nottingham Irish Festival.
If Cllr Darcy cannot attend one of both of the events, he will be represented at them by the Leas-Cathaoirleach Cllr Seamus Hanafin or a cathaoirleach of one of the county’s five Municipal Districts.
