Six-year-old Paddy Duffy was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour
The GAA community in Tipperary has rallied to help their ‘little friend’, Paddy Duffy, who was diagnosed with brain tumour.
Shortly before Christmas, the six-year-old was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, the most common cancerous brain tumour in children.
As he is travelling to Manchester for assessment and begin his journey to recovery, Tipperary’s GAA community has decided to rally to help the O’Brien and Harkins family.
“His Mam and Dad are with him to help him along the way. That's where we come in. The O'Brien and Harkins family have given endless hours in the support of sports and community events in Borrisoleigh. It's the turn of the Camogie/GAA/Borrisoleigh and communities further afield to show their support of them,” they said on GoFundMe.
This February, they will hold the ‘Paddy Duffy Weekend’ in Borrisoleigh, Co Tipperary, to raise funds for their little friend.
They explained: “It is hoped to raise sufficient funds to ease the burden of the cost of travel for Paddy's family and to keep the bills paid at home whilst they spend their time getting Paddy better. All amounts no matter how small will go towards supporting the O'Brien and Duffy family. Any unused funds will be donated to Temple Street Hospital, where Paddy's journey to recovery began.”
So far, €11,915 have been raised for the little Paddy. You can donate to the fundraiser here.
