Minister is set to open town park and playground in this Tipperary town on Monday

The long-awaited official opening of the town park and playground in Newport is due to take place this Monday, Nenagh Municipal District Council has announced.

The facility, which has been in operation since 2022, will be opened at 11am by Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Darragh O'Brien.

The park, which was campaigned for by Cllr Fiona Bonfield, occupies a six-acre site in the town and coast in the region of €1.6m to develop.

Following the opening this Monday, Minister O'Brien has a number of other engagements in the area, including in Newport, Birdhill, Portroe and Nenagh.
