Tipperary Town District Court has been told that DPP instructions are still not available in the case against the man charged in connection with the death of Maciej Nowak in December.
Tomasz Rozpeda, 27, of no fixed abode, appeared by video link before Judge Elizabeth MacGrath at a sitting of Tipperary Town District Court in Nenagh.
Mr Rozpeda is charged with assault causing harm contrary to Section Three of the Non-fatal Acts Against the Person Act 1997.
Sgt Cathal Godfrey of Tipperary Town Garda Station told the court that DPP instructions were not available and the investigation was ongoing.
“They won’t be here for some time,” said Sgt Godfrey.
He applied to the court to further remand the defendant in custody.
Solicitor for the accused Vincent McCormack told the court he was concerned about possible further charges.
He said he is still not in a position to make a bail application on behalf of his client, as accommodation remains an issue.
Mr Rozpeda was assisted by a Polish interpreter, who was present in court.
Judge MacGrath asked the defendant if he had any questions for the court, to which he replied no.
The judge further remanded the defendant in custody to appear before Tipperary Town District Court on February 28 by video link.
Maciej Nowak, 32, was found dead at a house in Ballycrana, Kilross, on Wednesday, December 27, following what is believed to be an assault.
