Clonmel Arts Studios Group (CASG) are looking for a new studio.

Allowing artists to use commercial space for free can have several advantages for commercial owners, fostering a symbiotic relationship that benefits both parties, say the group members Brigid Teehan, Kate Somerville, Ian Mannion and Carol Murphy.

“Vacant commercial space that lies unused for a long time can be vulnerable to vandalism or suffer serious deterioration from unnoticed leaks and unchecked dampness,” they say.

“Artists acting in a temporary caretaking role can prevent these long-term damages and prevent spaces from becoming an eyesore, while attracting positive attention.

“Commercial owners may be eligible for a rates waiver from Tipperary County Council for their contributions to the local arts scene.

“An art studio can enhance the ambience of the commercial space, making it more appealing to potential renters”.

“This unique atmosphere can differentiate the space from competitors and attract a broader range of customers.

“Supporting local artists contributes to the cultural vibrancy of the community.

“It helps build a positive image for the commercial space as a supporter of the arts and a community-focused entity. People are often appreciative of businesses that contribute to the local arts scene, which can translate into customer loyalty and positive word-of-mouth”.

Clonmel Arts Studios Group is a pilot project between local artists, Clonmel Borough District, Tipperary County Council’s Arts Office and South Tipperary Arts Centre.

CASG have an excellent track record over four years in their first studio in Hughes Mill, Clonmel.

Please contact CASG members Kate Somerville, 087-7185309 or Brigid Teehan, 087-9149494 for more information.
