Friday night's Nationwide programme on RTÉ 1 television will feature the late Dillon Quirke, the 24-year-old Clonoulty/Rossmore and Tipperary hurler who collapsed and died while playing for his club at FBD Semple Stadium in August 2022.

The programme will focus on the Dillon Quirke Foundation (www.dillonquirkefoundation.com), which was set up in the young hurler's honour to provide access for every young athlete in Ireland, male and female, to mandatory heart-screening.

The foundation has already raised almost one million euro and over 200 young sportspeople throughout the country have already undergone cardiac screening since the establishment of the foundation.

Nationwide, which starts at 7pm, will feature interviews with Dillon's family and those involved in the foundation.
