The mini festival in Cashel will have something for everyone
With St Patrick’s Day falling on a Sunday this year, the St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee in Cashel have decided to make a change to the traditional parade, and instead use the magnificent Town Plaza as the venue for a mini-festival instead.
In this way people can not only watch the various performers pass by, but get up close and personal and interact with the musicians, performers, bands and local community groups that will take part.
The festival is due to start at 1pm and run until 6pm, and will showcase all that is great about the town of Cashel.
The theme of the day will be “Our Eco Future” and there will be something for someone and everyone on display.
While the line-up for the festival has not yet been finalised, some of the old reliables such as the Dr Diarmuid O’Hurley Pipe Band, St Patrick’s Brass Band, Cashel Comhaltas and the various Irish dancing schools in the town, as well as displays from the various primary schools, boys and girls, will form an important part of the event.
There will also be mini gigs by bands from the area, and the organising committee has thrown out an open mic invitation to local singers, bands and musicians to come on board.
The day will be rounded off with a closing concert and a drive-by of vintage cars and other vehicles.
If people would like to volunteer to help out, or if they wish to bring a trading stall to the event, please contact Sean Laffey by text on 087-9821916.
