Residents concerned about road safety at this roundabout in Tipperary

Signs and raised cushions have been requested for Coleville Road in Clonmel

Residents from Coleville Avenue on the Coleville Road in Clonmel are concerned about the danger of driving in and out of their estate.

Cllr Pat English told a meeting of Clonmel Borough District that cars are not stopping at the new roundabout on the edge of the estate and are driving straight through the roundabout.

He said that neither were cars stopping when they entered the roundabout at the Loreto Secondary School from the direction of the Mountain Road.

The residents are looking for new signs at both locations and also requested the installation of raised cushions on the road to slow down traffic, Cllr English stated.

In her report to the meeting, District Administrator Carol Creighton said that a speed survey would be carried out at the entrance to Coleville Avenue.

She said that alterations to the junction at the roundabout at the Loreto school would be carried out as part of the Safe Routes to Schools project at the Loreto.

District Mayor Richie Molloy also requested that the stretch of road between the roundabout at the Loreto and the entrance to Hillview Sports Club would be resurfaced as a matter of urgency.

Carol Creighton stated that this section of road is on the roadworks programme and would be completed by the end of the year.
