Tipperary County Council has given a commitment to investigate a flooding problem in a Carrick-on-Suir housing estate that arises after heavy rainfall.

Carrick-on-Suir Municipal District Administrator Marie O’Gorman confirmed at the District’s latest monthly meeting that the Council will investigate the flooding issue at Manor Close housing estate in Carrickbeg, Carrick-on-Suir with a view to finding an early resolution to the problem.

She gave this confirmation in a response to a motion tabled by Carrick-on-Suir Sinn Féin Cllr David Dunne requesting that the Council fix the flooding issue affecting the residents of Manor Close for years.

Cllr Dunne said he was happy with the Council’s response and the residents would really appreciate getting the problem sorted out.

He noted the flooding problem wasn’t the local authorit’s fault but a legacy issue from the Celtic Tiger years when the estate was built by a private developer.
