People are concerned about sulkies using the Blueway walking and cycling trail in Clonmel
Some people have vowed not to visit the Blueway again because they are fearful for the safety of their children after sulkies had been racing there.
This was stated by Cllr Pat English at a meeting of Clonmel Borough District.
He said that the council should request the local gardaí to patrol the riverside walking and cycling path in Clonmel on bicycles to combat this.
Cllr Siobhán Ambrose said that the Blueway was a great amenity and people were worried that sulkies were using it.
District Administrator Carol Creighton said that there was access to the Blueway for horses and carts at Carey’s Slip.
She said she would discuss this with the engineering section of Tipperary County Council.
She said she would also bring the problem to the attention of the Gardaí, who had patrolled that area last year.
