Election day is almost half way over in the Nenagh LEA and reports from polling stations in the area say that there has been a "steady stream of voters" so far.
Initial reports from polling stations said that in general this morning it was an "older crowd" that had showed up but the mood was good and that people were "happy to be out fulfilling their duty".
Online in the past day, some candidates have taken to social media in one last bid to remind people of their proposition and to respectfully ask that they put them down on the ballot as their number one.
In a video, Fianna Fáil candidate Ryan O'Meara reminded people, "This is my first time running for Tipperary County Council, and I'm the youngest candidate in this area."
"I believe we need a fresh, new, ambitious and dedicated voice for our area to represent the concerns of local people. I love where I'm from. I love our community. But I believe we can have better and newer representation."
Sinn Fein candidate, Damian O'Donoghue, posted, "I am and have been a committed community volunteer here for years now and am involved in projects that mean a lot to me and countlesss other people in our community."
"Our community needs a strong new voice to represent us, a voice that will add the same energy to our council that I have added to each and every community group I am involved with."
"I believe it's not just good enough to be involved because it looks good to be involved. It's not about ego, it's about people."
Louise Morgan Walsh of the Labour Party said, "I want to be your representative for #NenaghLEA. Together, we can make Nenagh the best place to live, work and raise a family."
Last night Cllr Seamus Morris urged, "I need you to go out in huge numbers to get an experienced Councillor back to represent you. I have a lot of people still depending on me to be a Councillor from Monday as I am in the middle of some huge projects that will make a huge difference to people."
On Facebook, Iva Pocock wrote, "I will be a strong voice for real action on home building and ending dereliction and vacancy[...] I want to help create a culture of getting around that is both good for our mental and physical health and good for the environment."
"I have the track record, skills, energy and passion to serve the people of Nenagh and Lower Ormond."
All candidates for the Nenagh Local Electoral Area will be headed to the count centre in Thurles tomorrow morning to find out their fates.
