Local Tipperary cycling group to cycle the Tipperary perimeter for cancer charity

13 cyclists from Upperchurch Drombane Cycling Club will undertake a cycle around the perimeter of Tipperary in under 24 hours on Saturday, June 22.

The trip will cover a distance of 400 kilometres.

The trip is being done to raise vital funds for Suir Haven Cancer Support Centre in Thurles, a branch of North Tipperary Hospice.

The journey will start at Mary Willies near Urlingford on the Kilkenny border, kicking off at 3:30am, heading in a clockwise direction with planned stops in Clonmel, Mitchelstown, Rearcross, Portroe, Riverstown and Roscrea before arriving back at Mary Willies.

The cyclists will then head to the Suir Haven Centre on the Clongour Road, Thurles.

The group will pass through the likes of Carrick-on-suir, Clonmel, Mitchelstown, Newport, Portumna, Birr, Roscrea, Templemore, and Thurles.

The 13 cyclists taking part in the trip are Jim Bourke, John Cahill, Adam Challen, Joe Clohessy, Davy Cullen, Martin Deasy, Seamus Duggan, Seamus Fahey, Pat Healy, Nigel Kennedy, Danny Lawlor, Patrick O’Kelly and Jerry Ryan.

They will have a support crew of Davy Russell and Gareth Genockey travelling with them along the journey.
